Description
St Pancras Church, Widecombe-in-the Moor.
Sometimes known as the Cathedral of the Moor due to its size, St Pancras serves the village of Widecombe-in-the-Moor located on Dartmoor in Devon, England. It is famous for being struck by ball lightening during the great storm of 1638. Some members of the congregation were killed; others badly burnt.
Local legend has it that the devil visited the church and took away parishioners who were playing cards during the service.
