Description
Pendragon Castle is located in the northern Yorkshire Dales, not far from the modern town of Kirby Stephen.
Folklore ascribes its construction to Uther Pendragon, father of King Arthur, however the castle more accurately belongs to the Norman period, with a 12th century date of construction confirmed. The castle fell into decay in the 17th century and is now just a “romantic ruin” gracing the valley of the River Eden.
